Vice President, Business Development - EMEA
Custodia is a UK based company, founded in 2017, with wider presence in North America, Europe and Asia both directly and through strategic partnerships.
Our current key offering is the CC1 (Compliance Cloud One) service which records, stores and normalizes any type of communications data. This includes many common platforms such as phone email, SMS, phone calls, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp and WeChat amongst many others. This allows companies to communicate in a compliant manner, whilst driving greater data-driven insights from the data they already have to store.
The VP, Business Development – EMEA is a senior, front-line commercial leader responsible for creating new revenue opportunities across EMEA from the ground up. This role is unapologetically business-development-led, focused on opening markets, originating strategic relationships, shaping commercial opportunities, and converting them into long-term customers and partners.
This is not a “manage the number” role. It is a market-making role for a commercially astute operator who thrives on ambiguity, enjoys building momentum from zero, and is comfortable personally carrying opportunities from first conversation through onboarding.
Primary Mission
- Create demand where none previously existed
- Open new markets, verticals, and strategic relationships across EMEA
- Personally originate and advance high-value opportunities
- Establish repeatable business development motions that can later scale
Key Responsibilities
Market & Opportunity Creation
- Identify and develop new markets, geographies, and vertical opportunities
- Proactively source and originate net-new business opportunities
- Engage senior stakeholders to uncover unmet or emerging needs
- Shape value propositions, commercial models, and early solution design
- Act as a constant feedback loop between the market and internal teams
Strategic Relationship Development
- Build long-term, trust-based relationships with:
- Prospective enterprise customers
- Strategic partners and ecosystem players
- Influencers and industry stakeholders
- Position the company as a strategic partner, not just a vendor
- Convert relationships into tangible commercial pathways
Partner Origination & GTM Design
- Identify and recruit high-leverage partners that unlock market access
- Design and test joint go-to-market motions with early partners
- Create co-selling opportunities and early lighthouse wins
- Lay the commercial foundations for a scalable partner ecosystem
Opportunity Advancement & early Deal Ownership
- Personally progress opportunities from first meeting to signed agreement
- Lead early commercial structuring, pricing discussions, and deal strategy
- Coordinate internal resources to support complex, early-stage deals
- Stay closely involved through onboarding to ensure early success and expansion potential
Strategic Contribution
- Provide leadership with clear insights on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging demand
- Influence product direction, packaging, and commercial positioning based on real-world market signals
- Represent the EMEAan market internally as it evolves and matures
Experience & Background
- Senior experience in business development, market development, or strategic partnerships
- Proven track record of opening doors and creating revenue opportunities from scratch
- Experience operating in complex B2B environments, ideally regulated or technically sophisticated
- Comfortable leading long, consultative buying journeys
- Strong EMEAan market knowledge and cultural awareness
- Background in scale-ups, early-stage growth, or new-market entry preferred
